Squashing Bugs

These last couple weeks we have been working hard to tweak and adjust parts of the program in order to make it work a little smoother. If you have a bug that needs to be squashed please let me know and I will take a look at it over the next week.

Put Attn: Matt in the email to chartermatrix@gmail.com and provide a detailed description, screen shot if needed and steps on how to reproduce the bug. You should go to http://thismachine.info and copy the text from that page into your email so I know exactly what device or computer you are using. All of these things are required before we can begin to debug.

Here is a list of some of the changes we have already made:

  1. Added space below the list of aircraft, and pilots that appear when clicking aircraft/pilot status on the bottom bar so the bottom bar does not cover up the bottom row of aircraft/pilots.
  2. You can now include single quote characters in your leg notes.
  3. Auto selection of a preferred FBO works when adding a leg.
  4. The Updated tag appears for maintenance events on the calendar.
  5. Sticky notes on the PAX List and Notes Edit pages now are specific to that trip or note.
  6. Buttons on PAX List page show icon in them which is replaced by spinning loader when clicked to show you something is actually happening in case of slow computers/ slow internet connection
  7. Airport Search button on the New Quote / New Flight wizard now points to the AircraftSearch page and not the home page.
  8. User Profile allows for a Human readable cell phone and a new cell phone number field for text messaging only. You can now send a text message to a person directly from that page with a customized message.
  9. Now you can include Special Keywords in the default email subject lines
  10. We included the Maintenance Title in the Flight / Crew calendar mouse-overs.
  11. Changed the Passenger report to include temporary passengers as well.

TSA billing notice

TSA vetting members,

As you know we here at Airplanemanager.com have gone through a crazy process to bring you the TSA vetting. In the past we did charge for it and when we brought it back we did not want to charge for it until we figured out what our costs would be to run it.

After letting everyone sign up and use the system for 2 and a half months we have completed the server upgrades required to run this TSA system. So now we are going to have to start charging a fee for this as most of our customers do not use it.

The fee of $50 per month will be charged for each company using the TSA vetting starting on March 1st 2013.

If you choose not to continue using this feature you may simply call or email us to cancel that TSA vetting service.

System upgrade tonight 1145 EST

Tonight at 1145 EST we will be taking AM down for server upgrades.  This upgrade will be very nice and will increase security and speed of the system.

If you need to use the system during this time please use www.Airplanemanager2.com but only use it for emergency purposes.  Any date updated in that system will not be transfered to the main system.

Upgrade from IE 8 to 9 or 10

Are you still using Internet Explorer 8 or lower? It's time to upgrade. Here is the link to download IE 9

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/internet-explorer/downloads/ie-9/worldwide-languages

Note: Windows XP users are not able to upgrade. You will first need to upgrade Windows. Windows XP is 11 years old.

If you are planning on buying a new computer soon, you will get IE 10 with your new Windows 8 operating system.

If you are on an older machine, try using Firefox isntead of Internet Explorer.

Phone and Tablet Capable

In an effort to ensure AirplaneManager is available to you everywhere we have purchased the new iPad, Nexus 7 (Android) and Windows Surface tablets for testing. Last night we updated the main website (not just the mobile site) to determine if your device is touch capable and to perform slightly different for those devices. Now when on a tablet or phone you are able to click on the main menu item and open the sub menu without it quickly changing to another page. You can also click on a calendar event to see trip details without automatically going to that trip's edit page.

We have also adjusted the site of the menu to appear larger on smaller screens, making it easier to click on a menu item.

These small changes will continue to be applied throughout the website over time. Remember that your browser stores an old version of our website on your computer in order to speed up performance. If things are buggy it could be that you need to clear out that old version (called the browser cache) and let the browser download the updates.

If you are on a windows machine you can hold the control key and press the F5 button once to refresh the calendar page. This is called a "hard refresh" and will clear out old data your browser has saved for the webpage you are on.

On an apple/mac machine simply hit the refresh button. If that does not work you can do a hard refresh by holding Command + Shift and pressing the R key.

So CTRL + F5 for windows browsers and CMD + SHFT + R for mac.

Thanks
Matthew

New Calendar

We have updated the calendar. Although we made it look similar, it is a completely new calendar.

The additional benefits of this calendar include:

  • Calendar notes with crew assigned now show crew names in the Hover Over info window
  • Trips that start in a previous month and end in a future month will now appear in the middle month if spanning is on.
  • The calendar updates its data every minute without refreshing the page. This means that if someone else adds or edits a trip it will put that updated trip on everyone elses screen within 60 seconds.
  • Moving from month to month is quick and does not require the page to reload/flash.
  • If you have a slow connection and the updates take more than a couple seconds, a loading screen will appear letting you know the calendar is downloading the new data.
  • The layout above the calendar was changed to be less cluttered and move the calendar up.
  • The Today day box is a brighter yellow to make it easier to find.

Your welcome

Flight Log Expenses

We have updated the Flight Log Expenses edit page.

Now adding expenses works quickly and without refreshing the page.

You are now able to edit previously entered expenses.

You can also sort by a column other than Date. For example, if you wanted to sort by Expense Type you can click that column to order your expenses. If you click it again it will reverse the order of that column.

We automatically save how you last sorted your flight log expenses. When searching/viewing flight logs your expenses will also be ordered the same way you last selected.

Faxing is live

Airplanemanager now gives you the ability to fax your pilot tripsheets and your quotes.  The system also allows you to fax directly to an FBO simply by clicking a check box!   This is a free service for you but we do pay a 3rd party for each fax so please do not abuse it.   Also faxes go in the order they were received so a fax may take up to 20 min to complete.

You spoke and we made updates

As you all might remember about 6 weeks ago we emailed our users and asked that they provide us with input as to what they would like changed or added to the system.   We used most of those ideas and requests in the latest round of updates within the system.

Now you will notice the edit flight page has changed.  The big change is that you can now select a different aircraft for each leg and apply a different status per leg.  Also the crew select is now part of that flight page and we have a new menu on the botton left of the flight page.  Many other updates were completed as well but those were the big updates.
